The Bell Calendar.
Every 202 days the house walks a ring of fourteen bells. This page publishes the shape of that ring — the bell days and their lines. It does not claim today’s count; the house keeps its own days inside the app, and the dial on the home page shows the cycle’s shape only.
The fourteen bell days
- Day 0 — The first bell: the ring opens, and the house listens for who has returned.
- Day 7 — The seventh bell: a week of reading is honoured; the ladder remembers.
- Day 14 — The fourteenth bell: the first fortnight closes; held drafts may finally go.
- Day 25 — The twenty-fifth bell: the quarter moon of the cycle; quiet nights are counted.
- Day 39 — The thirty-ninth bell: the house midwatches; admins read the reports by lamplight.
- Day 51 — The fifty-first bell: the Firstlist’s first ordering of the cycle is sealed.
- Day 69 — The sixty-ninth bell: the Vault’s deepest ten days begin; what is kept is kept.
- Day 85 — The eighty-fifth bell: the monsoon bell — stories of rain rise in the marks.
- Day 111 — The one-hundred-eleventh bell: the cycle’s hinge; the ladder is half walked.
- Day 139 — The one-hundred-thirty-ninth bell: the listening bell; voice stories are honoured.
- Day 151 — The one-hundred-fifty-first bell: the mercy bell; withdrawn stories are forgotten aloud.
- Day 169 — The one-hundred-sixty-ninth bell: the lantern bell; new members are welcomed in order.
- Day 185 — The one-hundred-eighty-fifth bell: the gathering bell; the year’s marks are counted.
- Day 201 — The last bell: the ring closes; the house keeps one day of silence, then begins again.
Bells fall in order through the cycle; between them the ring is quiet, and the quiet is part of the design. Members hear each bell in the app at the moment it falls, house time.
Why a 202-day ring?
Because a year is too hurried and a season too short. Two hundred and two days lets a story be written, held, revised and released inside one ring — and lets a member miss a month without missing the year. The number is a promise: nothing here moves faster than trust.
